This update is concerning the repair work to the Kings Worthy bridge.

Last year the contractors started to carry out strengthening and repairs to the bridge. They are now due to re-start work as the next ecological window has opened, allowing them to continue. Due to the work that’ll be carried out there is a risk of falling debris. Therefore, they will need to close the footpath. They expect this closure to be in place from 1 May 2026 until the end of September 2026, however, these dates may be subject to change.

The most appropriate diversion for both the A33/A34 and the Kings Worthy bridge footpath/footway, which is accessible for all users are: Kings Worthy Bridge Public Right of Way closure.

The contractors are aware that closing footpaths are an inconvenience but hope you understand why they need to close them. They will of course do their upmost to complete these repair works as quicky as possible and re-open the path.
