Down Farm Lane Working Gp

In 2022 in light of the fact that the Council had received a number of complaints from residents at the bottom of Down Farm Lane concerning the problems caused by speeding traffic coming down Down Farm Lane. HWPC agreed to set up an informal Working Group to look into the issue.

As a result of working with the HWPC, the County Council is prepared to develop the idea of a modal filter that would effectively close the road to through traffic with the exception of walkers, cyclists and horses. The illustration below demonstrates the proposed position of the modal filter. Vehicles would only to able to go as far as the turning to the A34 underpass. To access the Headbourne Worthy village from the Three Maids roundabout, vehicles, would need to travel via Welhouse Lane. The Andover Road/Wellhouse Lane junction, agreed by HCC and due to be installed by CALA, will make this intersection much smoother and safer than it currently is. This proposal will have the added benefit for residents of providing a safe cycle route to the golf academy and even a safe route for dog walking. The funding for the modal filter system project will be provided by HWPC from CIL (community infrastructure levy) and via grants from other bodies. For the project to proceed, permission and support from HCC is required. HWPC needs to hear your views on this proposal as HCC will only allow the project to progress if it can be shown that there is sufficient community support. HWPC has set up a short survey on Survey Monkey (link above).  It would be appreciated if you could use this link to answer a few questions.
