London Rd closure
Headbourne Worthy Parish Council
SGN will be closing a seciton of London Rd from Wednesday 13th November to Wednesday 4th December in order to complete gas main replacement works. These essential works will involve the replacement of old metal pipes with new plastic ones so they can continue to provide residents and wider community with a safe and efficient gas supply. This work needs to be undertaken before the M3 junction 9 work is started.
SGN will be closing to vehicles the short section of London Rd between the two Pudding Lane junctions. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained at all times.
SGN has been working with HCC to ensure the disruption is minimised for residents. Accordingly they have agreed that:
Pudding Lane - to avoid Pudding Lane being used as a rat run past the works, SGN has made some amends to the original map showing Pudding Lane within the closure. SGN will advise residents of Pudding Lane independently about their access arrangements which will be maintained.
School Lane - to avoid vehicles heading north along London Road using School lane as alternative diversion route, SGN are going to put signage out to advise resident access only, no through access. SGN will be monitoring this daily with the Highways Team as they know drivers may ignore signage, if this is the case SGN will make School Lane one-way.
Advance signage – SGN will be utilising Winchesters VMS signs and installing additional ones on London Road/Worthy Lane to advise driver in advance. SGN will ensure there are repeating signage on all approaches, with road closed and chicane barriers at the junction of Hyde Street and at the junction of A33. The intention of these are to discourage as much traffic as possible from travelling along London Road.
The attached letter will be going out to the communtiy.
