The WCC Economy team is launching an Essential Digital Skills programme at:

https://www.winchester.gov.uk/news/2024/sep/winchester-city-council-s-new-skills-programme-aims-to-tackle-the-digital-divide

This programme of work will be running until the end of January 2025. The programme is completely free of charge to Winchester district residents as it is funded by the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The project will support and train basic digital skills to the district’s residents, such as booking GP appointments and keeping in touch with friends and family online. The aim is to tackle digital exclusion and support the basic digital skills of the Winchester district residents, which in turn supports the district’s overall skills and increases employability.

There are three elements to the programme:

  • one-to-one bespoke sessions based in the location where the resident is located at a time that is convenient to them, including their home (when required)
  • workshop sessions visiting existing community groups for example Winchester Beacon: the group can decide the theme of the workshop based on their needs
  • the completion of accredited Office courses.

To find out more and register for a one-to-one or group workshop, or to refer a friend or relative:
